Here I am, year two with fundraising for the Sjogrens foundation. I agreed to run the Nashville Country Music 1/2 marathon but I cant find the motivation to start training. I am always tired and never want to go through the effort of finding my running gear and running for an hour on the treadmill. I wish people were more interested in supporting my fundraising efforts. It might help the motivation come along. I talked my cousin into signing up for the 1/2 marathon with me but neither one of us can stay committed to the program. I am hoping by updating my blog it will get me on the right path of running again. I agreed to start working out every morning with my cousin Lauren at a local gym. I am hoping that getting it over and done with in the morning will be easier to stick with. Wish me luck!

I currently have 25days left until race day!!!!! it is exciting and nerve racking... I try not to think about it too much but yet to stay focused on my training. I injured my hip a few weeks so I was forced into water workouts. I was surprised to see how good of a workout I could get in the pool. I used a floatation belt to stay up and run in the water. I also swam laps to help with breathing. I am back on the road tomorrow so it will be the true test of how good the pool workouts have been. I will be doing intense training for the next 3weeks to ensure I am ready for race day!

I am about six weeks into my marathon training program, which means I only have about 10weeks left! It is crazy yo think about. I ran for over two hours on the treadmill Sunday night. It may have been one of the most boring things I have ever forced myself to do. They talk about mental training in the marathon guides; spending two hours on the treadmill, running, was a great way to get my mental training in for the week. I cannot wait for the weather to warm up so I can venture back outside for my runs. I signed up for a half marathon for March 7th in Florida. I have a 14 mile run scheduled that day so it works out perfectly. It seemed to be a good way to keep my motivation going. I will post pictures and progress results after the race! Thanks for checking up on me and my training progress, I will try to update this more regularly!

As it turns out, keeping up with blogging is as difficult as the running is. I spent 12days over the holidays in Florida where I was able to run outside without freezing! I came back late Tuesday night and started back up with my treadmill workouts last night. They are definately more tedious than the outdoor runs! Im off to the gym now. Thanks for checking in :)

I decided to start a blog to keep everyone interested in my training up to date. The official training schedule starts Janurary 1st and is a 16week program leading up to the race. Team Sjogrens members were given a training book called the Marathon Method. Ive been reading that in between my runs and after work. It tells you how to eat and when to run plus workouts to do. The author talks about the importance of eating in the middle of long distance runs (the marathon is 26.2miles!) which I never thought was possible. We were also given official Team Sjogrens training shirts. They are really nice and say "Im running in honor of the 4million Americans with Sjogrens" on the back. I wore my shirt to the gym last night where i clocked another 3miles and did a core and upper body strength training workout.
